Subjects and Curricula
What subjects and year levels do you teach?
Jimmy teaches Year 7–13 Mathematics, Year 7–11 Science, and Year 11–13 Physics.
Which curricula do you cover?
NCEA, Cambridge (CIE), and IB. Jimmy is experienced in the curricula and exam formats of all three.
Which group classes are running this term?
Group class subjects and year levels can change each term based on student demand. See the class timetable for this term's classes. If the class you need isn't running, 1-on-1 tutoring is available for every subject Jimmy teaches.
Lessons and Pricing
What is the difference between 1-on-1 tutoring and group classes?
1-on-1 tutoring is tailored to the individual student, and lesson times are arranged directly with Jimmy. Group classes run weekly on a fixed timetable each school term, follow the school curriculum with other students at the same year level, and focus on problem-solving techniques and exam preparation.
How much does tutoring cost?
1-on-1 tutoring is $200 per 90-minute lesson. Group classes are $60 per 90-minute lesson, paid as 10 classes per term ($600 per term).
Can a student join a group class mid-term?
Yes. Students can join a group class at any time during the term. Contact Jimmy to enrol.
Can a student withdraw from a group class mid-term?
Yes. Students can withdraw from a group class at any time during the term, and any remaining unused classes will be refunded.
How long is each lesson?
Every lesson is 90 minutes, for both 1-on-1 tutoring and group classes.
What happens in a lesson?
Jimmy sends out the lesson materials and answers a week in advance, and students attempt the questions before the lesson. In the lesson, Jimmy goes through the questions step by step, focusing on how to analyse problems and improve question-answering strategies.
Location and Times
Where are lessons held?
Group classes are held in a classroom in Bucklands Beach, Auckland. 1-on-1 lessons are held in person in Auckland. All lessons are also available online.
Can lessons be taken online?
Yes. Both 1-on-1 tutoring and group classes are available online via Zoom. Group classes run in the classroom and on Zoom at the same time, so students outside Auckland can join too.
When are group classes held?
Each group class runs once a week during the school term, and times are set each term. See the class timetable for this term's days and times.

Who is the tutor?
Jimmy Xue graduated from Peking University with a Master's Degree in Physics. He is a registered secondary school teacher in New Zealand, a former teacher at ACG, and has more than 20 years of teaching experience. Read more about Jimmy.

Yes. Jimmy speaks both English and Mandarin Chinese, and can talk with students and parents in either language.
